The following are safaris that can be done as scheduled departure safaris.  These, or variations can be done as custom safaris.

Prices include:  Game activities under supervision of a professional licensed guide, ground travel, park fees and camping equipment, accommodations as indicated, meals except some lunches and dinners in Victoria Falls. 

Prices exclude international and domestic airfares, items of a personal nature.

Camping  grade can be upgraded to luxury Meru-style tents with ensuite toilet and shower at additional cost.


 
The Livingstone Trail
16-day BOTSWANA - ZIMBABWE $3070  excluding airfares
The waterways of the Okavango and Zambezi Rivers create some of Africa’s most dramatic landscapes and support an abundance of wildlife, bird-life and trees. Different modes of transport provide variety, excitement and participation..

Day 1 Travel by safari vehicle from Maun to Moremi National Park.  Afternoon game driving in this area dense with big game.  Camp at Xakanaka Lagoon

Day 2 Explore the channels of the Okavango Delta by motorboat to enjoy birdwatching.  You will have a chance to see two semi-aquatic antelope - Red Lechwe and the Sitatunga antelope.  Camp at Xakanaka.

Day 3 & 4 Travel to the Kwaai river area of Moremi famed for lion and wild dog.  Two nights camping on the Okavango Delta.

Day 5 Travel back to Maun for a flight to Kasane and drive to your camp overlooking the Chobe River home to the largest concentration of elephant in Africa.  After dinner do a night drive.

Day 6  Morning game drive.  After lunch transfer to Zimbabwe through the Matetsi Safari Area and the Zambezi National Park.  Overnight in a comfortable B&B outside Victoria Falls.

Day 7 Day at leisure in Vic Falls.  Overnight in a B&B.

Day 8 & 9 Travel to Hwange National Park.  Spend the days tracking game on foot.  This is home to all of the big five and Zimbabwe's premier wildlife park.  Camp in private remote bush camps. 

Day 10 After breakfast another walk in Hwange.  Upon return you will do a game drive through the park en route to Vic Falls.  Overnight at a B&B.

Day 11 & 12 Canoeing safari in the upper Zambezi with night at a comfortable bush camp on the banks of the Zambezi.

Day 13 Transfer to Vic Falls airport for a flight to Kariba.  Depart Kariba on a houseboat.

Day 14 & 15 Days spent viewing wildlife from the tender boat, fishing, birdwatching, and relaxing.

Day 16 Return to Kariba for flight to Harare or Victoria Falls.

DAY 1-2: VICTORIA FALLS  - ILALA LODGE - LODGING

On arrival you will be met at the airport in Vic Falls and transferred to your hotel. 

TERRAIN: Ilala Lodge is the closest hotel to the falls. Situated on the edge of the Victoria Falls National Park it is within an easy walking distance to the “Smoke that Thunders”. We spend two nights here.

GAME: Elephant, buffalo, bushbuck, baboon, vervet monkeys and warthogs are common. 

ACTIVITIES (includied): Visit To the Victoria Falls & Rain Forest; Free time to explore the markets & shops; Dinner at Mondi Village; 
Elephant-back ride (early morning); “Flight of the Angels” by helicopter (1/2 hour); Zambezi River Sunset Jet-Extreme Cruise.

DAY 3-4: ZAMBEZI NATIONAL PARK – CANOE TRAIL - CAMPING

Transfer by road to our launch spot in Zambezi National Park from where our canoe trip will start.

TERRAIN: Zambezi National Park, situated on the Upper Zambezi River, is one of Zimbabwe's most beautiful national parks. It consists of well wooded riverine forest and is home to a wide range of fauna and avifauna. It offers good game viewing and guests have the ideal opportunity of combining a walking with a canoeing safari. Our walking safaris are conducted in remote sections of this park and our camps are private and secluded, ensuring privacy and a wilderness experience.

GAME: Elephant, buffalo, kudu, impala, baboon, vervet monkeys, warthogs, waterbuck, and hippo are common. One could also hope to see: lion, leopard, wild dog, giraffe, bushbuck, sable, roan, mongoose, crocodile and leguan.

ACTIVITIES: Canoeing.

DAY 5-7:  NORTH-EAST CHOBE NATIONAL PARK - NGOMA - CAMPING 

Road transfer by bus across the border to Botswana. Transfer in our open game drive vehicle to our private camp set up at Ngoma overlooking the Chobe river where we spend the next three nights.

TERRAIN: Along the Chobe riverfront the terrain is that of a typical riverine ecosystem. Away from the river we have mixed miombo and broadleaved woodland that harbours rich avifauna.

GAME: Northern Chobe is famous for its elephant & buffalo herds, puku, kudu, Chobe bushbuck and hippo. One could also hope to see: lion, leopard, wild dog, giraffe, waterbuck, zebra, impala, baboon, vervet monkeys, warthog, sable, roan, lechwe, banded mongoose, crocodile, leguan.

ACTIVITIES: Game drives; birding; boat trip on the Chobe River
 

DAY 8: SOUTH-WEST CHOBE NATIONAL PARK  - MANKWE CAMP - LODGING 

While the staff pack up and move camp we will do a full day’s game drive with a picnic lunch en route through Chobe National Park and Savuti to Mankwe Camp situated on the outskirts of Chobe. We spend one night here only. 

TERRAIN: The Marsh in Savuti is typical grassland surrounded by Accacia bush and stony outcrops reminiscent of Serengeti. 

GAME: Savuti is famous for its lions and hyeanas, lone elephant bulls, zebra and wildebeest migrations. Other game one can hope to see include: giraffe, tsessebe, warthog, black-backed jackal, leopard, cheetah, bat-eared fox, impala, wild dog, kudu, baboon, steenbok, dwarf, slender and banded mongoose.

ACTIVITIES: Game drives; birding.
 

DAY 9: EASTERN MOREMI WILDLIFE RESERVE  - KHWAI AREA - CAMPING 

Game drive along the Khwai River from Mankwe Camp to Moremi where our mobile camp had been set up in advance in a private campsite and where we spend the next night. 

TERRAIN: Moremi being an extension of the Okavango offers a typical wetland system with grassy plains and pans surrounded by well-developed mopane forests and riverine woodland. This part of the Okavango Delta consists of grassy flood plains dotted with large termite mounds, small islands fringed with palms and larger islands with riparian forests of sausage and ebony trees. Water lilies adorn the bracken-lined watercourses and streams. 

WILDLIFE: Elephant, lechwe, waterbuck, impala, hippo, warthog, squirrels, baboon, vervet monkeys and banded mongoose are common. So are crocodiles and leguan. One can also hope to see buffalo, giraffe, bushbuck, lion, wild dog, leopard, cheetah, black-backed and side-striped jackal, zebra, wildebeest, tsessebe, bush babies, fruit bats, sable, kudu, roan, steenbok, duiiker, honey badger. The birdlife includes waterbirds as well as dry land birds.

ACTIVITIES: Game drives; birding.
 

DAY 10: EASTERN MOREMI WILDLIFE RESERVE  - SOUTH GATE AREA - CAMPING 

While the staff pack up and move camp to the South Gate area of Moremi we do a game drive with a picnic lunch en route. We spend one night only here. 

TERRAIN: This part of Moremi is drier and affords a better chance of seeing more plains game. 

WILDLIFE: Elephant, impala, tsessebe, wildebeest, zebra, kudu, warthog, squirrels, baboon, vervet monkeys and banded mongoose are common. One can also hope to see buffalo, giraffe, bushbuck, lion, wild dog, leopard, cheetah, black-backed and side-striped jackal, bush babies, fruit bats, sable, roan, steenbok, duiker, honey badger. The birdlife includes waterbirds as well as dry land birds.

ACTIVITIES: Game drives; birding.
 

DAY 11-12: SOUTHERN OKAVANGO DELTA – MOKORO TRAIL - CAMPING

Pack up camp and transfer by road to Maun. Transfer by single-engine plane to our mokoro launch station in the south-east of the Okavango Delta where we spend the last two nights of the safari. 

TERRAIN: This part of Okavango is typical southern Delta terrain with its grassy flood plains dotted with large termite mounds, small islands fringed with palms and larger islands with riparian forests of sausage and ebony trees. During peak flood season most of it is under water and accessible by boat or mokoro only. Water lilies adorn the bracken-lined watercourses and streams.

WILDLIFE: Lechwe, waterbuck, reedbuck, impala, hippo, warthog, baboon and vervet monkeys are common. So are crocodiles and leguan. The birdlife is spectacular. One can also hope to see elephant, buffalo, giraffe, bushbuck, lion, wild dog, side-striped jackal, otter, zebra, wildebeest, tsessebe, serval, civet, bush babies, fruit bats, sable, kudu, cane rats, springhare and squirrels.

ACTIVITIES: Explore the islands and waterways of this part of the Okavango by mokoro and on foot, birding. 

DAY 13 (FRI):  RETURN TRIP 

Transfer to the airport in Maun in time for your return flight.
 


 
 

 
Zimbabwe Highlights
9 Days  Hwange, Zambezi Canoeing, Vic Falls, Kariba Houseboat  $2200  excluding airfares
Departs every Tuesday with minimum of 2.
An active safari introducing guests to the best spots in Zimbabwe.  Excellent game viewing opportunities, canoeing through the Zambezi National Park, visit two parks with the highest Black Rhino populations in Zimbabwe.  Relax on a houseboat in the midst of teaming wildlife.

Day 1- 3 Travel from Vic Falls to Hwange national Park through beautiful forestry and safari areas.  Spend days tracking game on foot through Hwange.  2 nights camping in private remote bush camps in Hwange. 

Day 3 After a morning walk conduct a game drive through Hwange en route to Victoria Falls.  Overnight at B&B

Day 4-6  Early morning departure for canoeing safari.  Drive through Zambezi National Park to canoe launch point.
Spend the days exploring the channels and riding the rapids of Africa's most romantic and enchanting river.  Nights are spent in comfortable bush-camp on the banks of the Zambezi River.
Day 6 After a morning of canoeing travel by road to the Vic Falls airport for a scheduled flight to Kariba where you will board our houseboat.  Depart immediately and locate a suitable mooring spot on the Lake.

Days 7 - 8 Spend the days viewing wildlife from a tender boat, fishing, birdwatching, or just relaxing idyllically on the deck of the houseboat

Day 9 Return to Kariba for onward flights to Vic Falls or Harare.


 
 
Chobe - Zambezi Explorer
9 Days - Chobe, Hwange, Zambezi Canoeing, Vic Falls - $2000  excluding airfares
Departs  Saturdays with minimum of 2.
The corner of the world near the confluence of the Chobe and Zambezi Rivers boasts some of the best game viewing and some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. 

Day 1 Travel from Vic Falls to Kasane where you will board a boat for a cruise into the Chobe National Park.  Enjoy a pool side lunch followed by a game drive to your private camp overlooking the Chobe River flood plain - home to the largest concentration of Elephants in Africa.

Day 2 Full day of game drives in Chobe National Park.  Overnight at private camp overlooking Chobe flood plains

Day 3 Game drives in Chobe.  Overnight at private camp overlooking Chobe flood plains

Day 4-5  Early morning departure for canoeing safari.  Drive through Zambezi National Park to canoe launch point.

DAY 1 - 2:  OKAVANGO DELTA  -  CAMPING  -               F/B

Meet at Maun Airport at 12h00. Transfer to our camp in the Okavango Delta where we spend the next two nights exploring the area and camping on private islands.

TERRAIN: This part of Moremi is typical Okavango Delta terrain with its grassy flood plains dotted with large termite mounds, small islands fringed with palms and larger islands with riparian forests of sausage and ebony trees. During peak flood season most of it is under water and accessible by boat or mokoro only. Water lilies adorn the bracken-lined water courses and streams. During low flood season it is accessible by 4x4 vehicles only.

WILDLIFE: Lechwe, waterbuck, reedbuck, impala, hippo, warthog, baboon and vervet monkeys are common. So are crocodiles and leguan. The birdlife is spectacular. One can also hope to see elephant, buffalo, giraffe, bushbuck, lion, wild dog, side-striped jackal, otter, zebra, wildebeest,  tsessebe, serval, civet, bush babies, fruit bats, sable, kudu, sitatunga, cane rats, springhare and squirrels.

Pack up camp and transfer by road to Moremi where we set up camp in a private camp site and spend the next two nights in a private tented camp. Moremi being part of the Okavango is your typical wetland system surrounded by mopane forests and riverine woodland.

Pack up camp and transfer by road to Savuti - approx 5 hours’ drive with a picnic lunch en route. Drive through the national park with game viewing most of the way to our private camp site in Savuti where we spend the next two nights. Victoria Falls cultural tours and walking safaris
We offer a variety of the finest walking safaris and cultural tours available.  The emphasis is on genuine Zimbabwean hospitality, education and involvement.  Walking guides are highly trained professionals with extensive experience walking in big game areas. They are suitably armed and competent as well as being knowledgeable and attentive hosts.
THE AFRICAN VILLAGE TOUR     US$40.00
A 4-hour tour to the nearby Monde Village. The tour includes visits to two households representing the two ethnic groups living in this village. Guests are escorted through the homesteads and discuss architecture, building methods, agriculture, culture, belief and traditional medicine. It is not uncommon for visitors to obtain advice and assistance for their ailments. Guest are encouraged to participate in the tour, for example by sampling local foods or grinding maize using the traditional methods. This tour is a joint venture between Country Road Safaris and the Monde Village Development Committee. Includes soft drinks and a sample of traditional food (whenever possible)
WALKING SAFARI - ZAMBEZI NATIONAL PARK  US$50.00
The Zambezi National Park surrounds the town of Victoria Falls. The park has several distinct ecological zones and offers easy and exciting walking. Zambezi National Park is home to large numbers of elephant and buffalo as well as being one of the best bird watching centres in southern Africa. Walks in the park are always rewarding.  Half day walks in the morning or afternoon or full day walks are available. (Full day: US$98) Includes tea (am), soft drinks & biscuits. Full day includes breakfast and lunch too.
CULTURE - CRUISE -  WILDLIFE     US$100.00

A full day activity allowing the visitor to experience the variety of elements that make up Victoria Falls. After the morning cultural village tour, our guests are transferred to the Zambezi River where they enjoy a leisurely lunch while cruising on the river. Wildlife is regularly seen from the boat and the bird watching opportunities are excellent. Upon disembarking from the cruise, guests are collected by a Professional Guide and taken into the Zambezi National Park for an afternoon of game viewing. They may choose to walk or drive.
