  This is a unique opportunity for a walking safari in the new Great Limpopo Transfrontier Parque comprising Kruger National Park and the Parque Nacional do Limpopo in Mozambique.

 

This involves hiking in wilderness areas remote from the crowds of Kruger, but with the same fabulous wildlife.

 

Famed guide for Southern Africa, Steve Bolnick, will lead this safari.

   Minimum of 4 and Maximum 8 persons on this safari

Safari requires hiking distances of up to 15kms per day over rough terrain.  Reasonable level of fitness is required.

Experienced and armed guide on the trail.
Tents, mattresses and equipment are provided.

 Meals (breakfast, trail lunch and dinner).
Transfer of luggage to each night’s camp.

 

Campsite

Bush campsites are unfenced. 
Basic ablution facilities (bush shower and short-drop toilet) are available,
Water for cooking and washing as well as firewood is provided.

 

Indemnity

This is a rugged safari in wilderness areas.  While wildlife attacks are extremely rare and all precautions will be taken for your safety, the risks of a walking safari in big 5  game country over rugged terrain are foreseeable and are assumed by the participants who will be required to sign indemnity forms.

Itinerary

Activity

1 Meet at 15.00 at the Elephant Release Boma  on the road to Machampane Tented Camp, 3kms west of the T-junction Vehicles are parked here for the duration of the trail. Hike 1,5 hour through the Machampane river valley for the first nights camp to arrive at Marula Bush Camp in time to settle in before sunset.
2 day of game viewing walks in the area of Marula Camp and overnight at Marula Camp
3 Hiking on the trail crossing the Machampane river and traverse the Lebombo plateau before reaching Palarangala Bush Camp located in  the riverine forest of the Palarangala river valley. Overnight
4 game viewing walks in the Palarangala River Valley. Overnight at Palarangala Bush Camp
5 Hike following the course of the Palarangala river to a large pool at its confluence with the Machampane river before meandering through the Mopane treed sandveld to Pumbe Bush Camp. Overnight
6 After breakfast hike from Pumbe camp to reach vehicles at around 10.00,  sufficient time to return  via Kruger Park and Phalaborwa to Gauteng or to continue to the Moçambique coast.
